Winter is Finally Here

Outdoor Season!!

Winter is finally here and outdoor season has finally arrived.  It’s time to get new outdoor furniture and enjoy the cold breeze. When shopping for outdoor furniture you should keep in mind three important points:

  • 1   Weather
  • 2      Material
  • 3     Statement

All of those three points are connected to each other one way or another. You have to keep in mind that the weather in Kuwait is, rainy, dusty, humid and so forth. Therefore, when shopping you should keep in mind the weather and choose your materials wisely. You should go for water resistant fabrics for the seats and cushions. Seats made of bamboo or rattan and wooden tables with glass surfaces because they are more durable. However, you should avoid metals because they’ll rust; they are better off inside the house. Be creative with your choices; pick bold, unique and rare products for your garden. Make a statement with the pieces you choose.

Whats the difference between bamboo and rattan?

They both look and feel the same. However, the difference between them is a matter of quality and price.

Bamboo

Furniture made of bamboo are usually cheaper in price. The life span of bamboo furniture would vary depending on the owners good care from one to three years.

Rattan

Rattan is usually higher in price. Most of the luxury furniture brands use rattan for all their outdoor furniture. Quality-wise rattan is very strong and more durable. Life span of rattan is five to eight years maximum if well taken care off.

Take a look at this garden, what do you guys think of it?

Kicking it off with Maze

Who's Behind Maze?

Bibi Al Ghanim the most creative furniture designer, in Kuwait.  Her designs reflects exactly what this blog is about. She creates western inspired pieces with an Arabic twist to it. All of her designs got some arab soul in them, that what makes them unique. Her creations are a work of art.

Bibi’s Story

"Where there's a will, there's a way"

She had a will...

Colors were always her passion, since she was young she loved combining colors and fabrics, mixing and matching to see what she’d come up with. Furniture as well was her joy especially the decorative part of it like cushions, throws, ottomans and tables.

So as she grew she translated this fiery passion into her work designing her own ottomans, cushions and throws through the technique of fusing two cultures-- the east and the west.

And so there became a way...

For her to start Maze six years ago because of her strong will and love for creativity and success.

Maze Collection

Maze vintage pieces are chosen and created  carefully starting from the fabric, the handcraft, the embroidery, the tassels and even to the legs of the ottomans. The pieces are individual, authentic, and exquisite handmade creations.

The concept behind maze is the reversible, double-sided technique so as to have a nice variety of two designs in one item. Maze has created several collections, each one based on a different theme with its own textures, materials, colors, and fabrics to induce variety into my work.

  1. The Oriental Collection
  2. The Bedouin Collection
  3. The Mulberry Collection
  4. The Arabian Nights Collection

Below are some of my favorite pieces from Maze.

Memories of a Newborn

Memories

For all the mothers out there, who are currently decorating their newborn child’s room or just looking for a new and creative piece to add to the room, Memories is your answer.

What is Memories?

For the first time in Kuwait, coming all the way from the UK is a service that gives you the opportunity to capture and store your most magical moments; the hands and feet of your newborn. How do they do it? Its very simple they’ll create a cast of your kids’ hands and feet and then they’ll place it on ceramic. What better way to decorate the room than your kids’ hands and feet hanging on the wall?  Sounds unusual I know!!

Call now 90929690 and make an appointment. The staff will come to your house and start casting. You can also contact them here, here, and here.  Look at pictures below to see the complete process. It’s so cute I love it.
